We are very pleased with our Sony Bravia 40" HDTV. It arrived quickly, and has exceeded our expectations. The picture and sound quality are very good, which has been our experience with Sony products. However, Sony's new Internet-ready features make this unit one of our best electronic buys. We watch Netflix and even use it in conjunction with our HP MediaSmart home server. The only downside to the latter is that videos will not stream wirelessly. This Bravia comes with Sony's wireless USB adapter, which works well including on dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) wireless N transmission. However, although we can view pictures and stream all kinds of music files, we can't do so with our video files. I know that Sony requires pretty specific formatting in order to play video files (MP4 encoded using h.264 codec and AAC audio), and I can actually use my relatively new Western Digital My Book AV (also ordered via Amazon) to play the same video files copied from my HP home server; they play well. There's nothing that I can do, though, to make this TV or my Sony Blu-ray home theater system (BDV-E570) recognize those streaming video files on my home server. I researched and confirmed that it's likely not an issue with HP or its Twonky Media DLNA software because the other files stream flawlessly. Hopefully Sony will improve this feature, although I've read posts that indicate that streaming video even via wireless N doesn't work well unless you have superb buffering technology, evidently like that used by Netflix and others. Regardless, we're still well-pleased with this Sony TV and would definitely recommend it. Sony has released a couple of updates even since we purchased our new Bravia several months ago, which have expanded the Internet-based options to include most streaming music websites and plenty of video websites as well. The only other improvement that I'd like to see is the ability to use the USB port more freely, as others have commented, because I think that it only supports Sony's wireless USB adapter at this point in terms of wireless options. As mentioned, it works well with the compatible My Book AV external drive and might even allow a USB hub (not sure about this, but I plan to test it).

Love it, picture is great. I use this as 3rd computer monitor at work for large group reviews, as well as occasionally a TV. People are blown away by the HD picture from an antenna.
Love it, very happy.
I also purchased the dedicated Samsung hanging hardware looking for a slim look. Paid a fortune but it was supper easy to install. Look on U-tube for a 7 min video which goes through the hanging process, the included instructions are poor. You can thank me later.
One nit picking complaint, I had an outlet installed on wall. The power cord is now way too long and makes the TV stick out from the wall more than it is supposed to.
As to 120 vs. 240 in the store you can see a difference as you can see with edge vs. backlit LED. For my purpose no reason to pay more when this TV rocks.
Only thought, if this was my only TV and I was a super picky person I would splurge for the 240 and backlit. However, I suggest you go to the store and compare them side to side.
Not like the 120 has a bad picture, the Difference is a great vs. a super picture.
Bottom line,
Great TV good buy.

In May 2010, I set out to buy a 32-37" LCD TV priced below 0. I would challenge you to find a higher quality, more feature rich set than this LG at this price point. Delivery was fast, and set up was a snap. I find that there is hardly a feature that I don't use on a daily basis. The "Sport" video setting is the best I have ever seen. Neighbors have copied the settings, trying to duplicate it's quality on their LCD's without success. The remote is superb in it's comfort and operation. I also use this set as my PC monitor. Text and graphics are great. If you are "practical" this is the set for you.

Arrived from Onecall in three days in perfect condition. In spite of the fact that anything more complicated than a shoelace is normally beyond my technical ability... it took me less than one hour to set up and have set and (Toshiba) DVD up and running. Pedestal slid from packing to working position in one easy move.

Sound is very good for TV this size... certainly not "tinny" though on two channels I will be using computer speakers. Remote right size, easy to figure out and operate... large numbers. It also has a *very* rugged feel.

First thing I watched was THE SEARCHERS... outdoor scenes... seemed like I was looking at the action through an open window. Excellent picture. The TV looks small just sitting there... but much larger with the screen filled with a picture. Not big enough for a living room or family room... but perfect for anything else.

One thing... there is a very noticeable "lag time" between hitting the channel change button and the actual change. In an ejection seat this would be unacceptable... in an excellent TV I can certainly live with it.

I am very pleased with this product, the price, and Onecall's service. Unless it goes blank or suddenly starts putting out death rays I will definitely recommend this set and Onecall...

For 0 this LCD television falls anywhere from to 0 lower in price than it's competitors (assuming you buy refurbished). Generally, when you pay less, you expect less, but this television holds up fairly well to the competition despite its cost.

Specific to me:
- Purchased through Amazon -> Refurbished -> Deal Barn
- Received with blown speakers and 1 dead pixel
- Within 20 minutes, steps for receiving a replacement were verified and underway

Picture Quality:

Like most screens larger than 17", the picture quality diminishes as you get closer to the screen.
- On a 1080i connection, at about 4 feet away from the television, all imperfections are no longer visible.
- At 480i, I suggest at least 5 to 6 feet of distance.

- When utilizing the HDMI port, when the camera pans, the TV fails to refresh at a fast enough rate and some lag occurs.
--- However, some tweaking with settings seems to remove this lag.
- A small amount of lag is noticeable on HEAVY amounts of motion even when not using a port (A problem common with most lower end LCD and LED televisions)


Audio Quality:

Currently, I cannot comment on this, as my refurbished television had it's speakers blown. However, I will post an update after I receive my replacement in the mail.

I've had this TV for just over a year now. All I can say is that if you can still find one at any kind of reasonable price, buy it. This is very possibly the best technology/electronics purchase I've ever made (and I've made a lot more than a few).

The picture on this thing is just tremendous. One of the outstanding features of it is how great regular, standard-def channels look on it...particularly compared to some I've seen on some LCDs and plasmas. The HD is flat-out stunning. A bonus is its' very low max power consumption of 230 watts. There are smaller screen plasmas out there that take 500 - 550 watts. No thanks -- I live in Ohio where electricity is expensive.

I have an unusual shaped den that has kind of a largish niche in one wall, so I didn't need a flat panel for (presumably) space-saving purposes. This thing is still only about 11 inches deep. An old-style 26" tube set is probably a lot thicker than this.

After I had it for a month or two and realized it was the best TV I'd ever owned (and was definitely a keeper), I bought two cabinets to put on either side to hold the DVD player, TIVO, etc. and then had a cabinet maker make a custom stand for the TV that matched the side piers. Sweet.

Review:
Great price, picture, and stereo sound (speakers in front). Super compact light remote. Love the back kickstand for desktop use. Excellent reception. External antenna with an extra long cable has a magnet base that mounts on top of your car roof, or any metal surface. Pop up antenna and external antenna both plug into the TV with a standard input. You can also plug you cable or satellite dish into the same input. Automatic or manual station setup. You won't be sorry buying this one.

I looked at the enclosed manual for both boxes and the "Car Adapter" is not listed. Now I have to send the replacement back by postal mail and then ask for a refund for postage from Amazon. They are going to credit my account now for the missing "car adapter" for $[...].

I replaced my Sony BDP-S560 with this new Pioneer Bluray player. The main reason was to match my new Pioneer VSX-1120-K receiver and it does so perfectly. I do like the button, drawer and display layout of the Pioneer over the Sony. As far as function, speed and performance goes, it is at least as good as if not better then the Sony especially in the speed (on, loading and shutoff) department. Hopefully, it will continue to work fine and last a long time. One thing it does not have that the Sony does have is built in wireless. However, Pioneer is supposed to come out with a wireless Lan adpater (hopefully wireles N and affordable, i.e. almost free) that plugs into the rear USB port. Still, for the money, the adapter should have been included with the unit (almost did not give it a four star rating because of this).

This TV is an amazing value. Better than LCD quality & all the features you need for the new era.

I have no idea what folks are complaining about! This TV is awesome. My son bought the 30" widescreen version and he loves it.

I'm looking at LCD TV's for another room right now and when comparing prices this TV is still a winner if you care about what the picture looks like vs. whether or not it is an LCD. Quality and price, just awesome.

This is my sixth Samsung TV since 1983. The 1983 Color TV still works.
Samsung is the best value on the market today.

This is an outstanding TV. Bright clear picture, clean motion, lots of inputs. I considered the comparable Samsungs but did not like the shiny screen or frame. The picture quality was indistinguishable to my eyes in the store. I ultimately settled on Sharp due to the reports of extraordinary customer service for Sharp vs. much less satisfaction with Samsung customer service. I have not been disappointed with the Sharp so far.

Update - After nearly 6 weeks, the wall mount finally arrived. Thumbs up for Sharp, thumbs down for Abe's of Maine.

I would have rather purchased the TV from Amazon, but they do not sell this model direct. So, I bought from Abe's of Maine, who offered no tax, free shippping and a free wall mount. This made their price substantially less than other vendors; moreover, Abe's was highly rated as a vendor. My experience? I cannot recommend Abe's of Maine (actually, Abe's of New Jersey). After I ordered the TV online, I got an e-mail to call them to discuss the order. Not surprisingly, a high pressure salesman tried to get me to upgrade everything from the mode of delivery, to the free wall mount, to an extended warranty, even to a different TV. I did upgrade the delivery as what came for free was "curbside delivery" and got a mount that was thinner (and tiltable) compared to the "free mount" that was included with the TV which was not tiltable. After about 2.5 weeks, the TV showed up. Delivery was quick and easy and the driver helped me remove the TV from the box and set it up. But the wall mount I ordered was not included, forcing me to scramble to find a solution to put the TV on temporarily. So far, I am still waiting for the wall mount, more than a week after reporting it missing.

Bottom line - This Sharp is one fine TV. Abe's of Maine was disappointing.
